Greg Derrick

Born in Bristol, Greg (now based in North Somerset) has always had a passion for walking and exploring the landscape; from the city centre to the countryside and this is often reflected in his artwork.

Greg studied Drawing and Applied Art at Bower Ashton and graduated in 2004. Greg was recently commissioned by the Severnside Railway community and has work displayed at Backwell station. He has also exhibited in Hamilton House as Artist of the Month and in and around Bristol and Bath. Greg also creates artists’ books and exhibited at the Arnolfini in the Babe book art exhibition and has some of his work held in the Tate permanent catalogue.

Greg’s paintings are visceral and immediate, charting the local (and distant) landscapes with energy and experimental mark-making.

His paintings are primarily painted in acrylic on self-stretched and prepared canvas. They are then professionally photographed and reproduced using Giclee printing technique.

Greg’s Lino Prints explores the natural world, using the natural rhythm of the material to create engaging works.

All his prints are hand-carved and printed in his studio using oil-based ink and his own press.
